$499,500.00 Passenger claims for capsize of a ferry/water taxi
Many other matters, both large and small, too numerous to list.
Why a General Practice? Most Legal Matters are not Confined to a Single Area of Law. An auto accident case is not limited to who caused the accident, but most often involves municipal or traffic court, interpretation of insurance policies, analysis of medical diagnoses, issues of earning capacity, life expectancy, worker's compensation, bankruptcy, and many other areas of law. Due to the large sums of money involved, the recovery in any significant personal injury case can lead to questions of the investment of the funds, and overlap with areas of Real Estate Law, Wills, Trusts and Estates Planning. Because no area of law exists in a vacuum, we are a full service law firm capable of handling the varied issues that arise in most claims, from the start of the claim to the successful conclusion of the case. Your case will not be referred out to another law firm, nor will you be passed on to a junior associate. Your case will be handled in house, by the lead attorney, from inception to successful conclusion.

Edward R. Petkevis, Esq., has 25 years of experience, an advanced degree (LL.M) in admiralty law from Tulane Law School, and has represented clients from Maine to Florida, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and he can be there for you. He began his career working on cases involving offshore drilling in the Gulf. His practice took him from Louisiana to Chicago, where he represented parties involved in all aspects of maritime commerce, including shipowners, barge owners and cruise lines, and the various P&I (Protection and Indemnity) clubs out of London. In 1995, the focus of his practice shifted with the founding of Edward R. Petkevis PC, where he primarily represents the individual, whether a Jones Act Seaman, Longshoreman, passenger on a cruise ship, or such non-admiralty matters as auto accidents and personal injury. He has successfully passed five consecutive bar exams in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Louisiana, and Illinois, and is also licensed in the federal courts of these states and New York.
